Membership in the Zonta Club of Longview is by invitation only and by proposal from an active member. We are an international service organization dedicated to advancing the status of women locally and globally.

Membership in the Zonta Club of Longview consists of four classes:  Classified Members, Emeritus Members, Past International Presidents, and Honorary Members

Classified Membership is open to executives or professionals in recognized businesses, institutions or professional occupations.  They must be working at least 50 percent of a normal week and willing to support the objectives of Zonta.  Membership classification is based on occupations and the Zonta classification system, which is based on the International Standard Classification of Occupations.

Emeritus Membership consists of longstanding members who have been active in Zonta for at least five years and have attained the age of sixty-five.

Past International President Membership may be retained by the Club as a member, or may elect to its membership, without classification requirement, any Past International President

Honorary Membership consists of members who have distinguished themselves by some unusual service other than their service to Zonta.  An honorary member shall be entitled to all membership privileges of the Club except those of holding any elective office or directorship, or making motions and voting, or of representing the Club as a delegate or alternate.  Honorary members are exempted from the payment of dues.  The Club assumes the obligation for payment of International and District dues for any honorary member.

Proposals for membership may be made by any member after a two-year membership, and is made on the Club's perspective membership form.  This proposal is reviewed by the Membership Committee, and, if approved, is presented to the Board of Directors for approval.  The proposal is then presented to the general membership for consideration.

As a member you are responsible or regularly attending club and relevant committee meetings.  You must pay all dues, fees, and assessments promptly.  You will be called on to serve in leadership roles and give your time, talent and enthusiasm to the organization.  As time permits you are encouraged to attend area, district and international meetings, workshops, conferences and conventions.
